About
Spring Rollers exists to:
- promote sporting activities for disabled persons as a rehabilitative and enjoyable activity and
- change negative stereotypes and help develop confidence, social integration and community development.
We have been providing wheelchair tennis activities for the disabled since 2014. The Woodlands lists us as a Parks and Recreation activity for the community. We currently have 12 active players and meet every Wednesday from 4:30-6:30. We are fortunate to be supported by retired professional players and knowledgeable club tennis players that help coach weekly.
In 2014 we began Spring Rollers with three wheelchair tennis players. Since then we have added several regular players and additional players who attend as they are able. Six of our players have their own wheelchairs and we maintain additional tennis wheelchairs for new players to borrow.
Our goal is to introduce tennis to the disabled community. We strongly believe that tennis provides a perfect opportunity for exercise, social interaction and support for young and old, men and women and individuals with a wide variety of physical challenges. Our players prove this every week.
We encourage you to stop by Ridgewood Park on Wednesdays and meet us!
